Interior view of the folding transit doors of a CTA 6000 series rapid transit car. Chicago Illinois USA. April 1986.

Interior view of doorway inside the snowplow service cars. Chicago Illinois. April 1986.

I took this photo aboard an April 1986 chartered fantrip over the Chicago Transit Authority's rapid transit elevated and subway lines. This is a detailed view of the folding transit style doors used on the CTA's 1950's era 6000 series lightweight rapid transit cars. The doors that are shown here, are on two 6000 series cars that were painted yellow and used in Maintenance and Snowplow service.

The original interior colors on the 6000 series fleet, were Teel green from the bottom of the windows down, and Agua green from the windows up. In later years as the cars came in for rebuilding, the interiors were then painted brown and light tan like the example shown here.
