Interior view if west Towns bus company # 776. A 1950 General Motors bus. The Midwest Transit Bus Museum. cresthill Illinois. September 2000.

From 2000 to 2002, I was a member of the Midwest Transit Bus Museum, located in far southwest suburban Cresthill Illinois near the city of Joliet. I worked not far from there in Romeoville Illinois from 1999 to 2001, and many times would visit there after work.

One of My personal favorites in the collection of antique transit buses, was West Towns Bus Company # 776. This bus was built by General Motors in the year of 1950. It originally worked in San Diego California, but was purchased second hand by the pre 1974 Chicago area suburban bus company known as the West Towns Bus Company during the early 1960's to augment their fleet. It operated in the suburban towns of Berwyn, Cicero, Oak Park, Brookfield and La Grange Illinois until the late 1970's. Today it is privately owned by museum president Dave Buzek, and occasionaly is used for local parades.
