On Saturday,October 28th 1989...I rode aboard a special railfan chartered excursion from Chicago to Harvard Illinois. Chicago's Metra commuter rail agency and the Chicago & NorthWestern Railroad, were finally retiring from service the last three early 1950's vintage EMD model E-8 passenger service cab unit diesel locomotives.
This photo was taken at our second photo runby location at Ridgefield Illinois.
Many railfans with camera and video equipment in hand, are seen disembarking the excursion train for a series of photo runbys.
