Eastbound Belt Railway of Chicago transfer train leaving Clearing Yard. Photographed at Hayford Junction. Chicago Illinois. January 1987.

I took this photo way back in January of 1987.

A heavy all morning snowstorm had struck the greater Chicagoland area on this day, and the snow had finally stopped falling by early afternoon when I arrived at Hayford Junction with My camera inhand.

Two Belt Railway of Chicago mid 1960's era Alco C-425 roadswitchers, lead a transfer train eastbound caboose first, in a scene so typical of Chicago winter railroading.
