Chicago Surface Lines car # 144 on the trolley loop. The Illinois Railway Museum. Union Illinois. August 2006.

I took this photo during an August 2006 visit, to The Illinois Railway Museum.

Preserved Chicago Surface Lines electric streetcar # 144, is viewed operating on the museum's trolley loop.

Car # 144, was built by the Pulman Standard Car Company of Chicago in 1908, and operated in regular passenger transit operation until May of 1954. After 1954, the succesor company Chicago Transit Authority, kept 1908 Pulman built cars # 144 and # 225 on the roster for special events and railfan charters, until the end of streetcar operations on June 21st, 1958.

Car # 225 is preserved today at The Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport Maine, while car # 144 delights and transports visitors at the Illinois Railway Museum.
