I took this photo at the Illinois Railway Museum, during their September 1982 Member's Day Weekend. This is an interior view of a Chicago Transit Authority former Chicago Rapid Transit Company 1920's era 4000 series rapid transit car. With it's classic vintage glass lamp shades and reversible seats, these cars remained in Chicago Transit Authority service in to the early 1970's. Many found new homes afterwards at various railroad museums.
This interior view, was once a common sight for CTA elevated and subway lines commuters in Chicago on a daily basis.
