Canadian National train with former GTW units passing through Ash Street Junction. Chicago Illinois. June 2007.

I took this photo back in June of 2007.

A light Summertime rain is gently falling, as a westbound Canadian National freight train being pulled by two former Grand Trunk Western Railroad EMD roadswitcher locomotives, is viewed passing the long closed Ash Street Tower near South Western Avenue.

This train is heading westbound over the former Illinois Central Railroad's Iowa Division Mainline.

You can tell Ash Street tower is closed because there's no mop propped up on the landing nest to the door. Ha. That mop seems to be in almost every shot of Ash Street I've seen.

If You look closely, You will see that there is a metal screen gate over the tower door with a lock on it.
