Northbound BNSF Railway light engine movement. Hawthorne Junction. Chicago / Cicero Illinois. June 2008.

I took this photo back in June of 2008.

A northbound four unit set of BNSF Railway EMD roadswitcher locomotives running light, are viewed entering the Canadian National ex Illinois Central crosstracks at Hawthorne Junction.

Located directly on the Chicago City Limits border at west suburban Cicero Illinois, the Belt Railway of Chicago crosses the Canadian National Railroad at ground leval. The metal shed in the background to the left, was the location of Belt Tower prior to 1990.

These locomotives are viewed returning to the nearby BNSF Railway's Clyde Yard in nearby Cicero Illinois, after just departing from th Belt Railway of Chicago's Clearing Yard in Bedford Park Illinois near Chicago's Midway Airport.

It's nice to see that some of those blue and yellow former Santa Fe locomotives are still rolling around today.
