Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad EMD NW-2 # 8734 and a caboose in Hammond Indiana. March 1976., a photo by Eddie from Chicago on Flickr.
I found this photograph at my link page Fallen Flags.Org, wich is located to the right of your computer screen at www.rr-fallenflags.org
I have been a big fan of the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad since the forst time I saw one of their switching locals pass behind Curie High School on their now long gone "Stockyards" branch, way back in 1977.
Although this photograph was taken at Hammond Indiana, this is how I remember the stockyards branchline trains looking like almost daily, passing behind my old high school in Chicago from 1977 to 1981.
Often it looked like a forgotten remnant of the 1950's era New York Central Railroad lost in time.
Thanks.
Eddie K.
