The sole surviving EMD E-5 passenger diesel. The Illinois Railway Museum. Union Illinois USA. September 1984.

This is the only surviving example of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad's once proud fleet of 1940's era EMD E-5 streamlined passenger diesel locomotives. The C,B & Q was the only railroad to own the EMD model E-5 locomotive.
Seen here coupled to the museum's 5 car articulated C,B & Q Nebraska Zephyr, is C,B & Q # 9915 originally from the Texas Zephyr passenger train. Still a timeless classic today.
During the 1990's, the locomotives red stripes on the nose that were worn in later years, were replaced by the original black nose stripes, along with a refurbished Burlington Route nose herald, thus restoring the museum locomotive to it's original appearance.
