A clear eastbound track on the Norfolk Southern Railroad. Oak Lawn Illinois USA. September 2006.

I took this night time photo of a green railroad block signal, in southwest suburban Oak Lawn Illinois. Seen here just east of South Central Avenue, is a typical "Block Signal" used for controling train traffic. This former Wabash / Norfolk & Western railroad line, sees little freight traffic and Monday to Friday Metra commuter rail trains to Manhatten Illinois.

A small handfull of transfer trains going to and from the Norfolk Southern Landers Yard east of South Kedzie Avenue, enter and exit off of the nearby Indiana Harbor Belt at Chicago ridge Junction.
