Gritty urban railroading. Chicago Illinois USA. Early October 2007.

I took this photo one afternoon, in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood. Seen here just north of West 22nd Street aka Cermak Road near South Canalport Street, is one of many track switches on a former Burlington Northern industrial branchline now owned by DRS Rail Services.

The litter and various pieces of debris, is a scene typical of urban railroading in large citties everywhere. Anything from alluminum cans, beer bottles, small pieces of rusty scrap metal, old tires track plates and railroad spikes can be found.
