CB&Q 5632 on a fantrip - Classic Trains Magazine

CB&Q 5632 on a fantrip - Classic Trains Magazine

I found this 1960's era steam powered railroad excursion video from the former Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad, courtessy of Classic Trains Magazine and Herron Rail videos.

From 1955 until 1966, the Chicago, Burlington & Quicny Railroad  (Today BNSF Railway), operated several mainline steam locomotive powered fantrips out of the city of Chicago and other online communities.

Although the Burlington was commited to dieselization of their motive power fleet, the C,B & Q was also a late user of steam locomotives as well, and set aside several for preservation during the late 1950's and early 1960's era. Although steam locomotive # 563s shown here was unfortunately scrapped around 1970, the C,B & Q saved 4 of these 4-8-4 steam locomotives.

The Chicago, Burlington & Quincy steam powered fantrip railfan excursions of the 1950's and 60's era, must have been really something else to experience back in the day.

Thanks.
Eddie K.
