Upper and lower berth sleeping compartment of Atchison, Topeka & SantaFe Pulman Standard lounge / sleeping car # 3514 built in 1914. TheIllinois Railway Museum. Union Illinois. Saturday, May 18th, 2013.

I took this photo during a recent May 2013 outing to the Illinois Railway Museum in Union Illinois. www.irm.org

Long distance passenger train travel wasn't all that it was cracked up to be during the early 1900's era, as demonstrated by this preserved heavyweight passenger car from the former Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad.

Interiors on basic sleeping cars, were compact and crampy. The passengers only real measure of privacy, was this hanging curtain. The folding bed was literally in the aisle.Passengers walking through the car late at night, might be disturbing to some.
