A wooden safety gaurd at the Chicago Transit Authority's ground leval South Kilbourn Avenue pink line railroad crossing. Chicago Illinois. April 2007., a photo by Eddie from Chicago on Flickr.
I took this photograph at the South Kilbourn Avenue Chicago Transit Authority pink line rapid transit railroad crossing, back in April of 2007.
Rapid Transit lines operarating at ground leval with railroad crossings, are a dangerous place to be at. Special precautions like this wooden pedestrian safety guard with a sign posted, helps to keep unauthorized people from trespassing on to the rapid transit right of way, and coming in contact with the electrified 3rd rail that is energized at 600 volts DC. ZAP!
