Fellow club member Eddie K's unique, one of a kind, low budget spotlight car. L.O.L

What in the world is this?

Hi everyone!
This is Eddie K, your host and photographer here at Eddie's Railfan Page.

Model railroad novelty items like lighted searchlight cars, have been available for many years in O gauge by Lionel, S gauge by American Flyer, and H.O scale from Tyco and Bachman. Though there was never a specific or actual prototype for this in the real world, it was actually marketed for children to keep them busy and prevent boredom when playing with their trainsets.

I kind of wanted my own spotlight car as well, and came up with an inexpensive idea for one recently, while shopping at the Walmart store in northwest suburban Wheeling Illinois.

I purchased this little battery powered L.E.D clip on book reading light for $1.99, and just by luck...it fit nicely in my existing MTH Milwaukee Road H.O Scale gondola car. This past Wednsday night, I ran this for laughs on the club layout at the Oak Park Society of Model EngineersH.O Scale Model Railroad Club in Oak Park Illinois.

Hey! What good is a hobby if you can't have a little fun or a good laugh once in awhile?

Thanks.
Eddie K.
