Strasburg Railroad steam locomotive # 89 at the Enginehouse. Strasburg Pennsylvania USA. August 1990.

I took this photo at the end of the day at the Strasburg Railroad's Enginehouse. Recently restored locomotive # 89 is recieving an up close inspection by both tourists, and locomotive crew before being put away for the night. Although locomotive # 89 is a "Small" steam locomotive, here size and parts are quiete large in proportion with the people standing next to it. This old steam locomotive originally worked for the Canadian National Railroad on branchline freight trains, and light passenger runs until the 1950's. It was acquirred and used by the Green Mountain Railroad in the state of Vermont during the 1960's for excursion trains. Number 89 came to the Strasburg Railroad during the early 1970's. This engine operated on the Strasburg until the late 1970's when it was taken out of service for a lenghty overhaul. It returned to service in 1990 shortly before My visit that summer.
