Track siding switch ground throw. Chicago Illinois USA. July 2006.

This is a sight all too familiar to freight train crews that work on switching locals. This is the manual ground throw mechanism, that is used for throwing the track switch. The yellow and green four way metal flag on top, tells the crew as to what position the track siding switch is set for. I took this photo on a Canadian Pacific dead end spur branchline, that runs behind the Brickyard Shopping Mall on west Diversey Avenue.
