Eastbound Burlington Northern freight train with a caboose. Berwyn Illinois. July 1985.

I took this photo way back in July of 1985.

An eastbound Burlington Northern Railroad piggyback train, is viewed passing through the Berwyn Metra commuter rail station at South Oak Park Avenue.

This train with a wide vision BN caboose bringing up the rear, is slowly approaching the nearby BN Clyde Yard in west suburban Cicero Illinois.

Although cabooses were pretty much either already gone from the rear of most of North America's freight trains or slowly disappearing, during the 1980's, the BN used them as such just a little bit longer.

Cabooses were still common on the rear of BN freight trains passing through Chicago during the 1980's.
