A St. Petersburg Tram company O Scale model of a Chicago Surface Lines1936 PCC streamlined streetcar.

I found this photograph on the internet recently.

The Saint Petersburg Tram Company, is a company that imports Russian manufactured imported O Scale models, of American prototype streetcars and transit buses from decades past.

Seen here is a model of a 1936 Saint Louis Car Company lightweight PCC electric streetcar, from the Chicago Surface Lines Company. (Pre CTA.)

This car and several others like it, were designed by a transit group in Washington DC known as the President's Conference Commitee (PCC), under the leadership of then United States President Franklin Delano Roosevelt during the Great Depression.

Many transit companies were losing ridership in America during the 1930's due to the Great Depression, and this was an attempt to lure ridership back to the streetcar companies.

Car # 4021, is the only surviving 1936 PCC car from Chicago, and it is on display in it's original color scheme shown here on the model, at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union Illinois.
