I found this photo at My Link page Yesteryear Depot.Com, wich is located to the right of Your computer screen at http://www.yesteryeardepot.com/.

A popular railroad for many years amongst railfans in America, was the former St.Louis & San Francisco Railroad. While this railroad never did reach the city of San Francisco california on their system map, this railroad operated steam locomotives in to the early 1950's, and had actually set aside many for preservation.
One of those being Baldwin 2-10-0 steam locomotive # 1630, wich operates at the Illinois Railway Museum in the town of Union Illinois USA. http://www.irm.org/

While there was no information available as to where or what year this photo was taken, railfan photographer Paul Stringham, photographed St. louis & San Francisco 4-6-0 steam locomotive # 1100 in what appears to be a locomotive servicing terminal.

Steam locomotives like # 1100, are typical of American steam locomotives from the early 1900's. 4-6-0's are known as "Ten Wheelers", and were dual service locomotives that were quiete able on freight and passenger trains.

As trains became longer and heavier, these locomotives were usually placed in branchline service hauling switching locals, or light passenger trains.
