I took this photo during a 1985 visit to the Illinois Railway Museum in Union Illinois USA. www.irm.org
During the early 1980's, the Illinois Railway Museum began to acquire several examples of then disappearing American first generation diesel electric locomotives fom the 1940's and 50's era.
This early 1950's era EMD model GP 7 roadswitcher from the former Illinois Terminal Railroad, was acquired and restored to it's 1950's era Illinois Terminal colors and markings.
Welcome to my rail fan page! Here you'll find information and pictures of railroad related items from the Chicagoland area, Wisconsin and Indiana. Enjoy your stay. All Aboard!
