I found this wonderful and very historic vintage color reference photograph from the former Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad at my link page Fallen Flags.Org, which is located to the right of your computer screen at www.rr-fallenflags.org
Fellow railfan photographer Louis Rague, photographed this Burlington EMD NW 2 yard switcher locomotive, on the south station terminal leads to Chicago Union Station on September 2nd, 1956.
The color scheme shown here that was utilized on the C,B & Q's early diesel switchers and EMD ist generation hood unit roadswitchers, was known as the C,B & Q's "Blackbird" color scheme.
I could remember seeing this color scheme on the C,B & Q locomotives in Chicago during the late 1960's, and after the March 2nd 1970 merger of the C,B & Q -the Northern Pacific -the Great Northern -and the Spokane, Portland & Seatle Railroad that created the Burlington Northern Railroad.
Thanks.
Eddie K.
