Electric streetcar details. Chicago Surface Lines car # 144 at theIllinois Railway Museum. Union Illinois. August 2006.

I took this photograph during an August 2006 visit to the Illinois Railway Museum. www.irm.org

Occasionally, I enjoy taking up close detail oriented reference photographs of the markings and mechanical details of the museum's operating equipment.

Seen here, is an up close photograph of preserved Chicago Surface Lines electric streetcar # 144, which was built by the Pulman Standard Car Company of Chicago in 1908.

If anyone is interested...I will be hosting a multi media slideshow and lecture presentation about Chicago's electric streetcar era on Saturday, September 15th from 2:00 until 3:15 PM at the Downers Grove Public Library.

This presentation which features several vintage black and white as well as color photographs, is set to authentic period music ranging from Ragtime Piano, Dixieland Jazz and 1940's era Big Band Standards.

The Downers Grove Public Library is located at 1050 Curtis Street in west suburban Downers Grove Illinois.

Admission is free!

Thanks!
Eddie K.
