Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad EMD FT cab unit diesels on a 1950's era freight train., a photo by Eddie from Chicago on Flickr.
I took this photograph last week Wednsday evening, at the Oak Park Society of Model Engineers,H.O Scale Model Railroad Club.
One of my favorite Chicago railroad's I had grown up with as a kid prior to 1970, was the former Chicago, Burlington & Quincy.
I grew up on the near southwest side of Chicago during the 1960's and 70's era. The tasteful and unique color schemes that the C,B & Q utilized on their locomotives, always fascinated Me early on. Even after the C,B & Q had become the Burlington Northern through merger in 1970. one could still find some yet to be repainted former Burlington engines at the BN Clyde Yard facility in Cicero Illinois for a few more years to come.
A common sight on the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy during the late 1940's and through out the 1960's, were freight trains being pulled across Ilinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Colrado and Texas, by the C,B & Q's own light gray (Almost white) EMD cab unit diesel electric locomotives, like these early EMD model FT locomotives shown here.
