I took this photo on a dreary and cold Saturday afternoon, in Febuary of 1986. We are looking south at the intersection of South Kedzie Avenue, West 79th Street, and Southwest Highway -AKA Columbus Drive in Chicago's Ashburn and Wrightwood neighborhoods. A Norfolk Southern EMD roadswitcher with a former Norfolk & Western caboose acquired through the 1982 Norfolk & Western / Southern Railroad merger, are seen pulling a cut of container cars foreward out of Landers Yard. Prior to 1964, this was a Wabash Railroad facility on Chicago's southwest side.Welcome to my rail fan page! Here you'll find information and pictures of railroad related items from the Chicagoland area, Wisconsin and Indiana. Enjoy your stay. All Aboard!
