Canadian National locomotives idling at the former Illinois Central Hawthorne Yard engine terminal. Cicero Illinois USA. April 2006.
I took this photo in early April of 2006. Having barren straw brown leftover Winter scenery proved to be an advantage on this early Springtime afternoon. Seen here looking south from a neighborhood side street on the north side of the railroad embankment, are two Canadian National locomotives, one in the markings of predecessor railroad Grand Trunk Western, idling on the ready track at the former Illinois Central Railroad, Hawthorne Yard in west suburban Cicero Illinois. This facility was located on the Illinois Central Railroad's Iowa Division Mainline. The Canadian National absorbed the Illinois Central in a 1999 merger.
