I took this photo in the rural farming hamlet of Richfield Illinois. The occasion was the Metra / Chicago & NorthWestern Railroad EMD E-8 Last run fantrip. This excursion special operated between Chicago and Harvard Illinois, over the Metra / Chicago & NorthWestern Railroad, Northwest Line to Harvard Illinois. Metra and C&NW, were retiring their last three 1st generation EMD model E-8 passenger diesel locomotives that were built in the early 1950's, and originally were assigned to haul pre Amtrak passenger trains. Seen here are several on board railfan photographers detraining for a series of lineside photo runbys.
