Belt Railway of Chicago caboose at Clearing Yard. Chicago Illinois USA. May 1987.

Bely Railway of Chicago caboose at Clearing Yard. Chicago Illinois. May 1987.

I took this photo looking in to the Chicago side of Clearing Yard from the east side of the South Cicero Avenue overpass bridge.

The Belt Railway of Chicago's Clearing Yard is a huge facility near Chicago's Midway Airport. West of the South Cicero Avenue overpass bridge, is the southwest suburban village of Bedford Park Illinois, while the east side is the city of Chicago Illinois.

I took this photo on a lovely Springtime Saturday afternoon way back in May of 1987.
A small steam era Belt Railway of Chicago caboose, is viewed parked on the industrial branchline sidings lead, that services the many local industries along the southside of Clearing Yard. This could possibly indicate, that the BRC switching local may be spotting cars nearby at one or more of the factory spur sidings.

These cabooses have since been retired. One is preserved at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union Illinois, while another one is preserved on display at a city park in Hobart Indiana.
