Digital Live Sound Video: An MTH O' Scale Santa Fe 2900 Class 4-8-4 making a test run at Chicagoland Hobby. 6017 Northwest Highway.Chicago Illinois.

I photographed this digital live sound video, during an after work evening visit to Chicagoland Hobby located at 6017 Northwest Highway in Chicago's Norwood Park neighborhood.

A local customer was making a test run of His recently purchased MTH O' Scale model of an Atchinson, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad 1940's era 2900 class 4-8-4 dual service Northern type steam locomotive. The real Santa Fe 2900's were "Huge" locomotives, and so is the MTH model as well. These locomotives were built during World War 2, and operated in both passenger and freight service on the Santa Fe until the end of steam during the early to mid 1950's.

The prototype of this locomotive A,T & S,F # 2903...was originally displayed outdoors in the back yard of the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry after retirement from the Santa Fe. During the mid 1990's, it was moved to it's current home at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union Illinois, where it sits on display protected from the weather inside a display barn for all to enjoy.
