Mister Shrimp. Located on the southeast corner of South Harlem Avenue / Illinois U.S Route # 43 and West 63rd Street. Chicago Illinois. December 1985.

I took this photo way back in December of 1985.

Located at the southeast corner of West 63rd Street and South Harlem Avenue in Chicago's Clearing neighborhood at the Chicago city limits border by the suburban towns of Summit and Bedford Park Illinois, was this unique little deep fried take out sea food stand known as Mister Shrimp.

When I photographed it on this very blustery cold winter night in December of 1985, they were still using the old 1950's era Coca Cola signs and much of the original architecture as it was. In later years, the building was painted an "Ugly" bright gaudy shade of yellow, and the old classic soda signs were removed.

Just recently, Mister Shrimp at this location had closed and is now officially out of business. Today, there is a large sign in the window that reads "For Lease". Mister Shrimp was a fixture and landmark for many years in Chicago's Clearing neighborhood.
