I spotted this rare color early 1950's era photo taken in downtown Chicago, and thought that You may enjoy viewing it today.
The Chicago Transit Authority was formed in 1945, but did not begin operations until 1947 when the money was finally raised to purchase the Chicago Surface Lines Comapny (Streetcars and buses), and the Chicago Rapid Transit Comapny.
In the year of 1952, the Chicago Motor Coach Comapny joined the recently formed CTA.
Seen here heading northbound on Canal Street past Chicago Union Station, is a late 1940's era General Motors 35 foot transit bus acquired by the CTA a year earlier, and still wearing it's original Chicago Motor Coach Company color scheme and markings.
