Flood control lock on the north branch of the Chicago River. Wilmette Illinois. July 2010.

I took this photo during a recent July 2010 visit to north suburban Wilmette Illinois.

Located just below the west side of the Sheridan Road bridge, is this very unique Lock, used to control water flow and prevent flooding on the north branch of the Chicago River. It is operated by the Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago.
