The West Lake Avenue railroad crossing. Glenview Illinois. Monday, August 9th, 2010.

This railroad crossing gate, is one of several that guard train traffic on West Lake Avenue in north suburban Glenview Illinois.

This crossing signal, is located on the Union Pacific owned freight only "Techny Line", wich is a busy bypass route constructed to keep heavy freight train traffic off of the ex Milwaukee Road northline between Chicago and Northbrook Illinois wehere the interchange is located, and the former Chicago & NorthWestern northline to Kenosha Wisconsin between Chicago and Waukegan Illinois.

Both of those routes south of Northbrook and Waukegan, feature frequent Metra commuter rail trains daily.
