Western Pacific 4-6-0 #77 leading the westbound Feather River Express through Altamont Pass and entering the town of Lawrence California in 1937.

I found this classic old photo on the internet recently.

Although I was born and raised in the city of Chicago here in the Midwest region of the USA, A railroad I have always admired, even if I only got to experience it in photos or videos, was the Western Pacific Railroad.

The Western Pacific Railroad was a west coast North American regional railroad that existed from 1910, until merger and acquisition by the Union Pacific in the year of 1982.

The Western Pacific operated from Northern California near the border of the state of Oregon, to the states of Nevada and Utah.
Their fleet of steam locomotives were quite unique, and their later diesel locomotives wore a variety of color schemes as well.

This ariel photo was taken during the year of 1937, at a location known as Altamont Pass in northern California. 1910 era Alco 4-6-0 ten wheeler steam locomotive #77, is viewed leading the westbound Feather River Express through Altamont Pass, and will soon be descending in to the town of Lawrence California.
