Preserved 24 Ton Fireless industrial steam locomotive at the Tinley Park Metra commuter rail station. Tinley Park Illinois.

A local and sometimes un noticed preserved icon from the steam era, is this tiny 24 Ton Fireless 0-4-0T industrial steam locomotive on display alongside South Oak Park Avenue, adjacent to the Tinley Park, Metra commuter rail station.

This little engine that could, switched live stock cars at the Swift Packing Company many years ago. It was donated to the Village of Tinley Park for display in 1992 in honor of the towns Centenial.

The green color scheme with the red driving wheels, is unauthentic but proboubly more appealing than the basic black it proboubly wore in daily service.
