A former Southern Pacific locomotive pushing on the rear. Glenview Illinois. August 2010.

I took in some railfanning activity after work this past Monday evening, 90 degree plus weather and all....It was worth it!

I photographed a southbound Union Pacific Railroad empty unit coal train at the West Lake Avenue railroad crossing in north suburban Glenview Illinois. After waiting at least 30 minutes in swealtering summer heat, the southbound Union Pacific train that was waiting on a hold order at Willow and Shermer Roads finally recieved a green block signal.

On the rear of the train, was a former Southern Pacific Railroad, General Electric AC44CW Roadswitcher locomotive acquired through merger, pushing on the rear of the train.
