I found this photo at My link page Fallen Flags.Org to the right of Your computer screen.

The Great Northern Railroad, had become another "Fallen Flag" railroad on March 2nd, 1970, when it had merged with the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy, the Northern Pacific, and the Spokane, Portland & Seatle railroads to create the Burlington Northern Railroad.

One od My all time favorite railroad color schemes from My childhood, was the Great Northern's "Big Sky Blue" color scheme that was introduced by the GN in 1967. It had replaced an orange and Pulman green color scheme, wich was the favorite diesel era GN color scheme favored by most railfans. Me? I loved the blue color scheme all along. This photo is listed as being photographed at Seatle Washington in May of 1969. The locomotive is an EMD model NW-2 yard switcher # 153.

For the first few years of the BN merger, Great Northern locomotives wearing both the orange and the later blue color schemes, could be seen heading up BN freight trains traveling in and out of Chicago Illinois
