Nothbound BNSF Railway light engine movement. Hawthorne Junction. Chicago / Cicero Illinois. February 2007.

I took this photo after work one evening, back in February of 2007.

Chicago was in a very serious deep freeze condition at the time of this photograph, with night time low temperatures below zero. Several underground water main pipes were actually bursting below the streets of Chicago.

With an outside temperature of a rapidly falling eight degrees above zero Farenheight and a sharp wind blowing out of the west...I went out to Hawthorne Junction to take this photo at sunset.

Seen here are two northbound BNSF Railway locomotives running light traveling over the Belt Railway of Chicago tracks at Hawthorne Junction. The locomotives are returning to the nearby BNSF Railway Clyde Yard in west suburban Cicero Illinois.

I froze taking this photo, but it was well worth it.
