When one thinks of railroad cars in Patriotic looking red, white and blue color schemes....many historians think of America's Bi Centenial celebrations back in 1976.
One railroad that was ahead of the game with a red, white and blue color scheme long before the American Bi Centenial, was a northeastern United States railroad known as the Bangor and Aroostook.
I believe that the B.A.R's red, white & blue color scheme...had began during the 1950's and 60's era. The Bangor and Aroostook painted several 40 foot box cars and refrigerator cars in this color scheme, with special big and bold markings proudly advertising State of Maine products like Potatoes.
It was a very unique and outstanding color scheme from America's railroading past.
