I found this photograph at the Playland Park page on Facebook.com
Bill Boajanowski took this photograph at Playland Park possibly during the early 1970's.
Many years ago prior to the late 1970's and early 1980's, the greater Chicagoland area once featured many seasonal family owned amusement parks.

One of those places I had actually went to from 1971 to 1979, was a place in unincorporated southwest suburban Justice Illinois known as Playland Park.

Playland Park was a small amusement park located just west of Archer Road / Illinois Rt # 171, along the frontage road of the Ilinois Rt # 294 Tri State Tollway.

Playland Park had existed from approximately 1950 until the park had closed for good at the end of the 1979 season. With it's crushed gravel walking paths on the midway, this amusement park resembled a county fair.

Today, the former Playland Park site, is the home of the Sterling Estates Manufactured Home Park.

I still miss Playland Park today.

Thanks.
