Eastbound Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe transfer train. Chicago Illinois. Early September 1988.

I took this photograph way back in early September of 1988.

An eastbound Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad transfer freight train traveling over the Belt Railway of Chicago, has just passed the South Austin Avenue railroad crossing at West 60th Street in Chicago's Garfield Ridge neighborhood. Cabooses were being phased out by many railroads during the 1980's, and the Santa Fe used them relatively late on the rear of some of their freight trains during this period.

Thanks.
