Although the Grand Trunk Western Railroad had closed their Elsdon Yard on West 51st Street during October of 1983, a hint of locomotive terminal activity continued there on a smaller scale until approximately September of 1986. Seen here just north of West 51st Street east of South Lawndale Avenue, We find locomotives from the Grand Trunk Western and the Milwaukee Road idling on the curve by the small yard office.
Sometimes I would see locomotives being fueled on site here via a tractor and trailer semi tanker truck. Unfortunately, it was always when I actually didn't have My camera with Me.
