By far, the most unusual bus I had ridden on in the year of 2009, was this converted ex fire pumper truck originally from Long Island New York.
On Tuesday evening, July 14th 2009, I gathered with several friends for a unique open air sightseeing tour of Chicago Illinois with O' Leary's Fire Truck Tours.
The top hose deck of this 1965 Mack fire pumper, has been converted to passenger operation with the addition of school bus style seats, a floor, canopy and safety side railings. It was much like riding on an open air double deck bus.
Here is our converted 1965 Mack fire pumper truck facing east on West Taylor Street in Chicago's Little Italy neighborhood during a refreshment stop.
