Atchinson, Topeka & Santa Fe rebuilt EMD GP -9 and slug unit switching the south hump at Corwith Yard. Chicago Illinois USA. April 1984.
I took this photo on a pleasant Springtime afternoon way back in April of 1984.
There was plenty of switching activity that afternoon on the south hump of the Atchinson, Topeka & Santa Fe railroad's Corwith Yard just south of the intersection of West 47th Street and South Archer Avenue. Seen here on the curve just east of South Lawndale Avenue at approximately what would be West 49th Street, is a rebuilt early 1950's era Santa Fe EMD model GP-9 roadswitcher and a homemade slug unit at work pulling a cut of freight cars foreward.
