Preserved Illinois Central 1970's era wide vision caboose. Lemont Illinois USA. Early January 2007.
I took this photo during a Wintertime visit to southwest suburban Lemont Illinois.
Sen here just east of the old downtown section of Lemont, is a preserved 1970's era wide vision caboose from the former Illinois Central Railroad. This caboose is now the center piece of a Children's Safety City interactive park exhibit.
The ICG markings on the cupola stand for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad, wich was created from the October 1972 merger and acquisition of the former Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Railroad.
