A Tug Boat reversing on the stern of a ship. Chicago IL. March 2012.
I photographed this Marine digital live sound video this past Sunday afternoon, along the west bank of the Calumet River, just south of the East 95th Street drawbridge.
A huge Canadian great lakes freighter ship from the former Algoma Central Railroad, has just cleared the now lowered East 95th Street drawbridge.
This large freighter ship, required a tug boat on each end of the ship to assist in safely vavigating down the Calumet River channel on the far southeast side of Chicago, near the border at Hammond Indiana.
The large ship had to wait for the railroad lift bridge to be raised, upon the passing of two soon to be expected trains to pass by. The rear tug boat, is providing an extra "Brake" action by reversing the engine, to help keep the ship from drifting with the river currents and causing bridge damage.
Listen to the sound of that hard working diesel tug engine in reverse.
Thanks.
Eddie K.
