A station platform pedestrian railroad crossing signal. Elmwood Park Illinois. March 2014.

I took this photograph recently, in northwest suburban Elmwood Park Illinois.

An all too important piece of safety equipment found at some of Chicago's many suburban commuter rail stations, is this unique low leval pedestrian railroad crossing signal, used to warn passengers or pedestrians of danger, when a train is either in or approaching the commuter rail station.

This ground leval example, was photographed at the Elmwood Park Illinois Metra commuter rail station, on the Metra's Milwaukee District North Line to Elgin Illinois. (Ex Milwaukee Road.)
This crossing signal, is mounted just immediately west of the wooden crosswalk out of view to the right of the photograph.

Thanks.
Eddie K.
