Night time at the Grand Trunk Western Elsdon depot on West 51st Street. ( Gone.) Chicago Illinois USA. April 1983.

I took this photograph way back in April of 1983.

Seen here is the 1888 built Grand Trunk Western Railroad, Elsdon passenger train depot in a quiet night time scene from the early Spring of 1983.

This classic 1800's era two story wooden passenger train station, was a yard office at the GTW Elsdon Yard during it's final years of operation along West 51st Street in Chicago's Elsdon neighborhood.

Elsdon Yard, the station shown here, and the 1914 built steam era roundhouse at West 49th Street and South Kedzie Avenue, were in their final months of service. The Grand Trunk Western would close Elsdon Yard in October of 1983, and this depot was demolished in November of 1983.

This gives one an idea of how Elsdon Yard was like at night back in the day.

Thanks.

Fantastic. The shadowy figure standing next to the bunch give it an even better feel.
