The Downers Grove Illinois Public Library located at 1050 Curtis Street in Downers Grove Illinois, welcomes local Chicago historian, photographer and multi media producer Edward Kwiatkowski to the library on Saturday, September 15th from 2:00 until 3:15 PM.
Eddie as He is known amongst His family and friends, will be hosting a multi media photo slideshow and lecture presentation about the history of public transportation in the city of Chicago Illinois, entitled "When Chicago Rode The Streetcars".
The very begining of Chicago's public transportation in 1852 is mentioned, along with the introduction of horse drawn streetcars, cable cars, the first electric streetcars, the several transit companies, as well as the begining of todays Chicago Transit Authority in 1947, and the end of the electric streetcar era in 1958.
If You were one of the many people who grew up in the city of Chicago Illinois prior to the end of CTA streetcar operations in June of 1958 or know someone who did, then You won't want to miss this fun and historic transit ride down memory lane in Chicago.
